April 1, 2014 - Blakes Bulldogs repeat as LHL Champions

March 25, 2013 - Blakes Bulldogs win 2012-2013 LHL Championship
Congratulations to the Blakes Bulldogs, who pulled off what is quite possibly the most dramatic victory in LHL playoff history to claim the 2012-2013 league championship. Not only did Blakes overcome a loss in the first game of the best-of-three series, but managed a triumph reminiscent of the "Mighty Ducks" in the deciding game by scoring the cup-winning goal with less than a second left on the game clock. In spite of the impassioned appeals of the Barbarian players, the officials ruled that the puck had crossed the line prior to the buzzer sounding, giving Blakes bragging rights for the next year.

January 13, 2011 - Barbarian’s Goalie Scores Goal
On January 9, 2011 an event occurred that LHL historians are calling "almost as big a deal as the year they banned beer from the Westside Rec Centre": Barbarians’ goaltender Adam Skulsky became the first (and in all likelihood last) LHL goalie to score a goal into an empty net. Playing in the coveted 7:30 time slot against the FMC Flyers, with the Barbarians up 4-3 and the Flyers pushing hard for the equalizer in the final minute of play, Skulsky corralled a loose puck at the top of the crease and cleared it the entire length of the ice into the empty Flyers net. Unfortunately during the post-goal celebration, Skulsky’s stick and the miracle puck went missing, but it is presumed they’ll turn up in transit to Russia, where a linesman will sheepishly turn the puck over to LHL officials for enshrinement in the Hall of Fame. Congratulations to Adam on this historic event!

August 13, 2009 - Westside No-alcohol Policy
Westside continues to stringently enforce the existing no-alcohol policy. In light of the risk of losing our prized Sunday evening ice-times, the LHL is asking all teams to refrain from the consumption of alcoholic beverages in the dressing rooms or anywhere else on Westside's property.
