The Lawyers' Hockey League, founded many moons ago, is a league which believes in good sportsmanship above all else. If you are balding, developing love-handles, need to catch your breath at the top of a flight of stairs, enjoy a cold beer after the game and pride yourself in making a great pass as much as scoring a highlight reel goal, then this league is for you. The LHL enjoys some of the best ice time (every Sunday evening from 6:00p.m. to 10:30p.m. except Grey Cup Sunday, Super Bowl Sunday, Family Day and Christmas) on some of the best ice (Westside Rec Centre on 17th Avenue and 69th Street S.W., map) and has the most fun of any league in town. However, our referees (of which there are two every game) have zero tolerance for heroes or goons. Ours is a league where novice and skilled, young and old, passers and scorers are invited to share the ice equally in a spirit of sportsmanship, fun and camaraderie.
